Blog- On Writing sections 5 to 7
Narrative, description and dialogue are definitely the three top rules that King often emphasizes. King says that without these 3 things, (the three D's but King uses narrative instead of drama) then you don't have a story. All stories, be it big or small, follow the same criteria when in comes to the narrative, description and dialogue of the story. It is these three rules that writers often are able to create while just writing. He says the plot should not even be included and that writers can have an idea of a plot but these three rules keeps the plot together.
